The Foo Fighters have been confirmed to headline the Glastonbury festival in June.

Frontman Dave Grohl and the band made the announcement at Wednesday night's NME Awards as they collected the award for International Band.

Organisers of the festival then took to Instagram to confirm the news, posting a picture of the legendary Pyramid Stage under construction with the caption: "We're very pleased to confirm that @foofighters will headline the Friday of this year's festival."

This year's Glastonbury festival runs from June 24 to 28.
