Pam St Clement has revealed that she would have loved to have returned to EastEnders for the show's 30th anniversary.

The actress played Pat from 1986 to 2012, and died of cancer in the arms of her screen son David.

However, St Clement has now expressed her disappointment that her character was killed off as she would "adore" to go back to Albert Square now with fellow soap star Barbara Windsor.

She told The One Show: "I was disappointed. I felt let down a little bit as I had been assured that she wouldn't be killed off and I really did want her to be in the wings, as so many actors in the past have gone from the show to do other things, to have a break and then come back.

"And in all fairness to them, I couldn't commit to a return date. I just said, 'No, no, I want to go'."

She added: "It's a pity, because I felt that Pat was linked to so many people in the Square, related or had some sort of link to them, history, and I felt that was important. I would adore to be going back right now with Barbara [Windsor]."
