Ahead of her EastEnders comeback in next Friday's episode on BBC One and RTÉ One, actress Barbara Windsor has said that the makers of the soap were wrong to kill off Pat Evans (Pam St Clement).

The Mirror reports that Windsor said: "I think that Pat is sorely missed from the show and it was a bad choice to kill her off. Sorry if I offend the people who made that decision but that's how I feel."

Next Friday's episode sees Windsor's character Peggy reunited with on-screen son Phil (Steve McFadden), with the actress saying that McFadden was the reason for her brief return.

"Steve was the reason I had no hesitation in returning. I count him as one of my most trusted friends," she said.

"My admiration for him as an actor is way up there with the best."
