It has been announced that shooting on Jim Sheridan's film of Sebastian Barry's Man Booker-shortlisted The Secret Scripture began in Co Wicklow on Monday January 12.
The film reunites Sheridan with his My Left Foot producer Noel Pearson and stars Rooney Mara, Vanessa Redgrave, Jack Reynor, Theo James, Aidan Turner, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Eric Bana.
Adapted for the screen by Johnny Ferguson and director Sheridan, The Secret Scripture will film in counties Wicklow, Dublin, Kilkenny and Sligo over eight weeks.
Published in 2008, The Secret Scripture tells the story of Roseanne McNulty (Redgrave and Mara), who recounts her life and her experiences in a psychiatric institution.
