Mrs Brown's Boys is unlikely to return for a full new series, according to the BBC's comedy controller Shane Allen.
Allen claimed that the show's future could be limited to Christmas specials, due to creator and star Brendan O'Connor's hectic schedule.
He told Broadcast that it would be "hard to get another series" of the hugely popular sitcom.
Mrs Brown's Boys is set to return for two specials on Christmas Day on New Year's Day.
