Lupita Nyong'o took home the top prize at last night's (November 10) Glamour Women of the Year Awards which where held in New York.

The Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave star was honoured with the Woman of the Year accolade at the ceremony in Carnegie Hall.

During her acceptance speech she said: "I am still a work in progress and hope to always be... To be woman is to be human. And to be human is to seek perfection and to find joy in never obtaining it."

Other recipients of awards on the night were Orange is the New Black star and equality advocate Laverne Cox, actress and writer Mindy Kaling, Sarah Burton, who is the creative director at Alexander McQueen, supermodel and founder of the Naked Heart Foundation, Natalia Vodianova and Hilary Clinton, daughter of former US President Bill Clinton.
