Penelope Cruz is in final talks to join Sacha Baron Cohen's upcoming film Grimsby.

The actress would join an ensemble cast including Cohen, Mark Strong, Rebel Wilson, Ian McShane, Isla Fisher and Gabourey Sidibe in director Louis Leterrier's spy comedy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film centres on a James Bond type (Strong), who is forced to go on the run with his football hooligan brother (Baron Cohen).

Sources say that Cruz would play a philanthropic corporate leader, who may be more than she seems.

Baron Cohen, Phil Johnston and Peter Baynham wrote the script for the comedy, which is due to shoot this summer in Britain and South Africa.

Grimsby will be released on July 31, 2015.

Cruz was last seen in Ridley Scott's 2013 drama The Counselor.
