The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that her American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook director David O Russell has asked her to take the lead role in his new film, a biopic of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano.

During an interview on Live! With Kelly and Michael, Oscar winner Lawrence said: "He [Russell] recently texted me at, I think, four in the morning, and he was like, 'I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?'

"I was like, 'Yeah'. I can just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, 'Yeah, that's my next screenplay'."

Lawrence can currently be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
