It has been announced that the Coen brothers are set to write a Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks cold war movie.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Joel and Ethan Coen are set to write a draft of the screenplay that tells the true story of James Donovan, a lawyer who got involved in the Cold War when he negotiated with the KGB for the release of the U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers.

The report says the addition of the Coens to the project has added momentum to the film and that it could now be set to be Spielberg’s next offering with filming pencilled in to start in September in Europe.

Spielberg is also working on a religious period drama for Dreamworks and The Weinstin Company.
