Gerard Butler will star in the upcoming heist movie Den of Thieves.
Variety broke the news of his casting in the drama which is about a legendary bank heist crew who decide to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles, right under the nose of a rogue sheriff's deputy.
Christian Gudegast will direct from a script he co-wrote with Paul Scheuring.
The 44-year-old actor recently pulled out of the Point Break remake, in which he was due to play Patrick Swayze's role in the reboot of the 1991 action movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he pulled out of the movie due to a scheduling conflict and creative differences.
Butler is currently in production on Gods of Egypt.
