Woody Harrelson has been cast in the upcoming heist movie Triple Nine.

The True Detective actor joins an all-star cast, which includes 12 Years a Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Aaron Paul, Michael B Jordon, Gal Gadot and Teresa Palmer

The thriller from director John Hillcoat (The Road) will focus on a group of corrupt cops who are blackmailed by the Russian mafia to pull off an extremely dangerous heist.

They are forced to manufacture a 'triple nine' - which is the police code for 'officer down'. Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting cop they set up to die foils the attack.

Harrelson will play Sergeant Detective Jeffrey Allen in the movie, while Affleck will play his police officer nephew, according to Deadline.

Matt Cook has written the script for Triple Nine, which will begin filming this summer.

Triple Nine is slated for release in 2015.

Harrelson was last seen in HBO's critically acclaimed drama True Detective with Matthew McConaughey.
