EastEnders fans were treated to a real cliffhanger on Monday night when Jane (Laurie Brett) returned to Albert Square - just as ex-husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) was preparing to propose to current girlfriend Denise (Diane Parish).
With Ian's problems piling up, viewers had seen his son Peter (Ben Hardy) making a mysterious phone call in the soap last week.
Responding to fans on Twitter about her return, Brett wrote: "Thank you so much for the amazing response. It's rare to keep anything a secret, so glad we managed it @dominictc [Treadwell-Collins, EastEnders Executive Producer]. Glad you enjoyed it! Xx."
Brett later added: "Evening all.. Thanks again for the overwhelming response to tonight's ep.. #overwhelmed good night. Xx."
