The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star Liam Hesmworth, who split from Miley Cyrus two months ago, has said that he's "much happier" than before.

The couple ended their engagement in September, however the actor has revealed that he's doing well.

He told the Associated Press: "These days I feel like I'm more centred and grounded than I've ever been."

23-year-old Hemsworth admitted that he has gone through a lot since he moved from Australia to Hollywood five years ago.

He said: "I've learned so much. The first few years in L.A. were really tough and scary, but I had to figure things out for myself."

Hemsworth, who met Cyrus met on the set of their film The Last Song in 2010, added that his Hunger Games co-star Jennifer Lawrence has helped him be a happier person.

"For a few years I went down a path where I forgot to be in the moment and enjoy the moment," he said. "But being around someone like Jen, who is so honest and laughs all day long, I am forced to be in the right now. I'm much happier."
