Ryan Tubridy celebrated his 40th birthday last night with his 2fm listeners with a party in Dublin, which he said was "tremendous".
Speaking to RTÉ TEN about the party in 37 Dawson Street, where Tubridy celebrated turning 40 with listeners who were also celebrating the milestone birthday, he said: "It was tremendous, it was really nice to look the listener in the eye and to see what they all look like and I'm pleasantly surprised – they were all normal!
"There were plenty of photographs taken and lots of hands shaken and I'd say a few people shook today!"
Oh What a Night! The fun and frolics from Ryan Tubridy's 40th birthday party last night
As to how he's feeling the morning after the night before: "I'm fine because I had to be very good because I spent most of my time in front of an iPhone or many iPhones!
"I'm very grateful to everyone who showed up because it was a lot of fun and it was a great connection with the people I speak to but never speak with for a change."
The Late Late Show presenter is unnerved by turning 40: "I'm embracing it and running towards it, like Maria ran for the hills in The Sound of Music!"
2fm listeners and Ryan Tubridy were presented with a very special birthday cake
He is certainly happier about turning 40 then his was about turning 30: "Oh yeah, because I don't feel like showing off now. I did at 30, I was definitely getting into performing monkey territory whereas now it's more on my own terms and I like that bit."
Plans for his actual birthday are in place for a few of weeks time: "I have a couple of friends who I have been friends with from school and we're all hitting 40 around the same time and we're going to go away and do it properly and we're going to lock the door behind us. We'll invite a few friends and have a couple of pints of Guinness."
