HBO has confirmed that Treme will return for a fourth and final season which will run for five episodes.
The show's creator David Simon said last month that there were plans for a truncated final season to wrap up the New Orleans-set drama.
Simon said at the time: "We are going to be back for a season 3.5. HBO, upon viewing the 10 (season-three episodes) that we gave them and what we've done, they want to see the end of the story".
"They fought very hard to give us half a loaf. We're going to take it and run."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO have officially confirmed Simon's statements and production is scheduled to being on the final episodes in little over a week.
The drama series began three months after Hurricane Katrina, and stars Melissa Leo, Khandi Alexander and Steve Zahn.
Treme's third season is currently airing on Sky Atlantic.
