Singer Melanie C, comedian Tim Minchin and broadcaster Chris Moyles have all signed on for the first ever arena tour of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
The tour is set to play two dates in Ireland, the first will take place in the Odyssey Arena, Belfast on October 9th, followed by Dublin's 02 Arena on October 12th.
The classic rock musical, which was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will also be the subject of a television reality show which will see aspiring actors compete to win the role of 'Jesus'. The musical first opened forty years ago on London's West End.
Former Spice Girl and successful solo singer Melanie C is set to take on the only female lead of Mary Magdalene. The Liverpudlian singer played Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell's Blood Brothers in 2009.

Melanie C
"I have been lucky enough to perform at arenas across the globe and to star in London's West End but taking on the role of Mary Magdalene in the incredible Jesus Christ Superstar has to be one my most exciting challenges to date. I can't wait to take the show to some of my favourite venues with such a talented and formidable cast including Tim and Chris."

Tim Minchin
Australian-British comedian and presenter Tim Minchin has signed on to play the role of Judas Iscariot while radio and television broadcaster Chris Moyles will make his stage debut as King Herod. Minchin said "I've been in two small productions of the show, and understudied the big man both times. I am really bloody excited about this".

Chris Moyles
Lloyd Webber said "We’re thrilled to have such great talent in the cast for the new show – they are all true ambassadors of entertainment. The re-mastered album sounds fantastic and we hope that fans both old and new will enjoy it".
