Benedict Cumberbatch, star of the hit BBC show Sherlock Holmes, is ‘very close’ to Patty Hearst’s daughter, Lydia.
The 35-year-old, who plays the title role in the Conan Doyle–inspired series and also starred in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, has been seen at a number of Hollywood parties with the 27-year-old model.
According to a report in the Telegraph the pair were seated together at the 20th annual Elton John Aids Foundation Oscars Academy Awards viewing party on Sunday night.
Previously they attended a Vanity Fair party in Hollywood last month where they arrived together and left together. Throughout Cumberbatch and the former ‘Supermodel of the Year’ happily posed for photographs.
On Wednesday, a spokesman for Cumberbatch confirmed his client was “very close” friends with Miss Hearst, whose mother was kidnapped in the 1970s.
“They have been friends (for) a while now, but to say they are dating is probably too strong,” he told the Daily Mail.
Cumberbatch is currently hot Hollywood after appearing in the Oscar-nominated films Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Warhorse. He is also cast as the baddie in the Star Trek sequel.
