Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has said that he would love to take on more adventurous roles.

The actor, who can also be seen on the big screen in War Horse said in an interview with BBC’s Newsbeat: "I wouldn't turn my nose up at an action film. I love the idea of getting involved.

"I love the Bonds, and Bourne as well. They're both fantastic franchises and that would be great fun."

He added: "There are all sorts of action films I like, [but] I thought Kick-Ass was fantastic because it shows the real cost of violence."

Cumberbatch, who was recently cast as a villain in Star Trek 2, will play Smaug the dragon using motion capture and will voice the Necromancer in The Hobbit.
