Pixar boss John Lasseter got his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame yesterday.
The man behind the company that has spawned such monster animation hits as Toy Story, Cars, Ratatouille and Up, was teary eyed at the ceremony.
"Without Steve (Jobs), Pixar wouldn't exist," he said, paying tribute to the late Apple co-founder. “I honour him.” Lasseter recalled that the only request that Jobs -- former CEO of Pixar and Disney board member -- asked of him was to "make it great".
Lasseter’s star was the 2,453rd on the Walk of Fame, located in front of Disney's El Capitan theatre. The Pixar head honcho, who was sporting his trademark Hawaiian shirt, recalled the time when he was just 7 and he travelled with his family from their home in Whittier, California to see Mary Poppins at the El Capitan.
The stars who turned out for the event included Don Rickles, who voiced a role in Toy Story and its sequels, John Ratzenberger, who has been a part of every Pixar movie thus far and Owen Wilson (Cars).
