Despite his difficult divorce from Heather Mills, Paul McCartney has reportedly refused to ask his fiancée Nancy Shevell for a pre-nuptial agreement.
His divorce from Mills cost him £24 million (€27 million), however instead of drafting a pre-nup to safeguard his £495 million (€563 million) fortune, McCartney has had a ‘simple’ document drawn up to protect his children’s and grandchildren’s multi-million-pound trust funds.
The 68-year-old, who has been dating New York heiress Shevell, 51, for four years, is said to be ‘ecstatic’ at the prospect of marrying for the third time.
A source close to the couple, who announced their engagement on Friday and are expected to wed this summer, said: "Paul trusts Nancy implicitly. She is wealthy in her own right and certainly isn’t after him for his money.
"There is no pre-nuptial agreement but Nancy told me they are having a simple one-page legal document drawn up, which she is more than happy to sign.
"It states that, in the event of a divorce, she will not make any claim on the trust funds of his children or grandchildren."
The source added: "Paul has known for a long while that Nancy is the one. They are blissfully happy."
