Former Beatle Paul McCartney, 68, has proposed to Nancy Shevell, 51, his girlfriend of four years, People magazine reports from a source.
The pair met in the Hamptons in 2007 and began dating before his divorce from ex Heather Mills was finalised.
A source close to the couple insists they are the perfect match, saying, "They have the right chemistry. They're both cool, chilled out and optimistic."
Shevell, the vice president of a family-owned transportation conglomerate, also reportedly gets on well with McCartney's five children - Heather, 48, Mary, 41, Stella, 39, James, 33, and Beatrice, seven.
A source close to McCartney's daughter Stella says the designer is "thrilled" that her father has decided to marry Shevell.
The couple were spotted out together on the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Tuesday.
This will be the third wedding for McCartney. He was married to Linda McCartney from 1969 until her death from breast cancer in 1998.
He then married Mills, a former model and philanthropist, in 2002.
The couple separated in May 2006 and went through a very public and messy divorce in 2008.
