Paul McCartney fell on stage during a curtain call at a concert in Brazil after a lengthy standing ovation from 67,000 fans.

According to the Daily Mail, the 68-year-old tumbled face first as he exited the stage at the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo.

The former Beatle tripped on some cables and fell to the floor before rolling over and jumping up.

However as one audience member's video of the incident showed, plenty of fans saw the accident and gasped in horror but soon cheered as he quickly rose to his feet again.

During his trip to the continent, McCartney has struggled to leave his hotel to do some sight-seeing due to the sheer volume of fans outside.

He played his first Brazilian gig for 18 years in Rio De Janeiro a week ago, before a two night stint in Buenos Aires, Argentina and back to Sao Paulo for two concerts on Sunday and Monday.

He told the crowd: "I love South American audiences.

"I always think I have Latin blood because I connect so strongly with their love of music and their love of rhythm and their love of melody, so I always feel like I have a very big bond with South American people and Latin people in general."
