Speculation over whether she will be taking her seat next to Simon Cowell on the judging panel of the U.S. version of 'The X Factor' has been running for weeks, but is Cheryl’s American dream over before it’s even begun?

The Daily Star is reporting that Cheryl will instead be offered the role as Simon’s assistant on the show, similar to what we’ve seen Sinnitta do on the UK version.

A source told the paper: “People just don’t know who she is over there and people struggle to understand what she is saying. Simon is consoling her with the offer of helping him win the first series, which would give her profile a massive boost.”
