Edward Grimes last night said he would not allow his knee injury to slow him down and pledged not to cancel upcoming shows.

Edward tore his knee ligaments when he fell over during a performance with his twin brother John on 'T4 On The Beach' on Sunday.

Edward reassured fans when he told the Sun "Jedward is a professional band. We have to go on for our fans. We don't want to be like U2 - we'll carry on even if I have to go on stage on crutches. We should do a hospital scene as part of the tour. That might work."

He said the fall was "the most painful thing that has ever happened to [him]" saying "I could hardly walk and I just thought I needed to make it look like part of the routine".

He continued "I think John felt some of my pain because of the twin thing. I felt like I was leaving him to be a solo artist - and that's not what Jedward's about.

Edward added: "When they were examining me at the hospital I kept thinking my leg was going to snap if I straightened it out. The doctor wanted to give me morphine but I'm like, 'No, I'm not a druggie.' We don't do bad stuff. I had oxygen, gas and air and it made me feel really weird."

The teenager has been ordered not to walk for four weeks.
