Eighty-nine-year-old 'Coronation Street' star Betty Driver has said that she has no plans to leave the cobbles of Weatherfield.

Speaking to the Mirror about the soap's Christmas Eve panto show, in which her character Betty Turpin plays the Fairy Godmother, Driver said that she would still be in the series this time next year.

"I'll definitely be here next Christmas," she said. "They will have to shoot me to get me out of here."

Driver paid tribute to the young stars of the show, describing them as "such a great bunch" and saying they all "have such a good time" working together.

"We gel as a group and they treat me just like I am their age, which I love," she said.

Driver has played barmaid Betty in 'Coronation Street' since 1969.
