'Grey's Anatomy' star Katherine Heigl is to play the lead role in a new romantic drama called 'Life as We Know It'.
Variety reports that the film tells the story of two single people whose lives are thrown into chaos when their mutual best friends die in an accident and they are named as the guardians of the late couple's daughter.

Heigl and her mother Nancy will also serve as executive producers on the film.
The actress is currently shooting the film 'Five Killers'.
