Singer Lily Allen has created a media storm by suggesting that 'Britain's Got Talent' star Susan Boyle is "overrated".

Allen came in for criticism from show judge Piers Morgan after she posted a message on her Twitter page saying that Boyle was "overrated".

The debate about the comments was featured on ITV News last night, prompting Allen to respond today.

The singer said: "It seems I made it on to ITV news this evening. Funny that the BBC and Channel 4 didn't seem to pick up on my tweets."

"It also seems that I am not alone in my SUBO views. I'd say 90% of you are agreeing with me. And by the way, overrated is not the same as bad."

When a follower on Twitter asked Allen what overrated meant, she replied: "Google it. My comments come up third after the dictionary entries. So ridiculous."

When another follower asked her who Susan Boyle was, Allen wrote: "A member of the television viewing public".
