New York musician, poet and artist Patti Smith will exhibit her work and perform in Sligo at Critical Voices 3, the Arts Council's biennial programme of public debate about art, culture and ideas.
Critical Voices 3 began in March and runs until December, bringing more than 30 international artists and thinkers to Ireland.
Drawings and Photographs, a major retrospective exhibition of Smith's photography and notebooks, is her first exhibition in Ireland and it will open to the public in the Model Arts and Niland Gallery on Saturday 20 May.
It will be accompanied by an intimate evening of music and poetry by Smith on the same night (tickets €45) and a public interview with the artist on Sunday 21 May.
The exhibition has been organised and curated by The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The Model Arts and Niland Gallery is one of only two European venues that the exhibition is travelling to.
Drawings and Photographs runs at the Niland until 9 July.
