Madonna is to perform at her first music festival in California in April before starting a summer tour.
The pop icon will play at the two-day Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday 30 April alongside Daft Punk, Depeche Mode and Massive Attack.
The annual festival is set in a desert near Palm Springs.
"I've never performed at a festival and I'm especially excited about playing at Coachella before I start my own tour," the singer said.
She has not yet revealed any tour dates or venue details.
