U2 were the big winners at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last night, winning in all five categories in which they were nominated.
The quartet took the awards for Album of the Year ('How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'), Record of the Year ('Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own'), Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance By a Duo Or Group With Vocal ('Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own') and Best Rock Song ('City of Blinding Lights').
'How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb' also won three Grammys last year.
Last night's five wins puts U2's career haul of Grammys at 22; they are now in sixth place on the all-time list of Grammy winners.
When asked backstage if U2 were now the greatest band in the world, the Edge replied: "We are tonight."
He also said: We actually talked about how we would react in the situation if we didn't win anything, if we literally came away without one award."
"So the prospect of winning all of them never entered our heads. In our wildest dreams we never imagined that we'd win everything."
Speaking on the Gerry Ryan Show, the Edge said: "It's like an outpouring of support across the entire country for U2."
"It's like every quarter from Nashville to LA to New York, everyone seems to have just decided that this is our year."
Frontman Bono said: "You would expect people in Ireland to be getting sick of us but we are the football team and tonight we have won the World Cup."
