Elton John and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin are to begin work in January on a new album, which is due out in 2007.
Billboard reports that 'Captain Fantastic and the Kid' is a sequel to John's 1975 album 'Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy'.
The album will be released on 20 March 2007, five days before the singer's 60th birthday.
In November, John will release 'Elton's Christmas Party' exclusively through the Starbucks coffee chain in the US; the album features a new duet between the singer and Joss Stone and previously released songs from other artists.
