A sequel to the Oscar-winning 'Gladiator' is currently in development, according to Russell Crowe's co-star in the film, Djimon Hounsou.
Speaking in New York to promote his latest film 'The Island', Hounsou said: "definitely the desire is to do a sequel."
Hounsou said producers were working on a script but acknowledged it would be difficult for Crowe to return for a sequel, given his character Maximus' death at the end of the first film.
Hounsou said he expected to return as African slave Juba in the film and "would probably be in the centre of it as one of the leads".
