Fresh from their double win at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards last week, Snow Patrol began work on their new album at the weekend.
Billboard reports that the Northern rockers are in Dingle on an eight-week writing and recording session.
An executive at Snow Patrol's label Fiction Records said: "We hope to have a new record later this year, but it'll be ready when it's ready. We're not putting any pressure on the guys to deliver it. They've got a few tunes in the pipeline and they're pretty confident about them."
Snow Patrol will support U2 at a number of their European concerts, including their gig at Croke Park on 24 June.
