Michael Moore is one of five directors nominated for the Directors Guild of America's documentary filmmaker award.
Moore is nominated for 'Fahrenheit 9/11' and is joined on the shortlist by Byambasuren Davaa and Luigi Falorni ('The Story of the Weeping Camel'), Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski ('Born Into Brothels'), Ross McElwee ('Bright Leaves') and Jehane Noujaim ('Control Room').
The Hollywood Reporter says that all but Noujaim are first-time nominees; she won the award in 2001 for 'Startup.com'.
The winner will be announced on 29 January at the annual DGA Awards dinner in Los Angeles.
