Jim Sheridan's semi-autobiographical film 'In America' has received three Oscar nominations.
Samantha Morton and Djimon Hounsou were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
Jim Sheridan and his daughters, Kirsten and Naomi Sheridan, were nominated in the Original Screenplay category.
The film was shot on location in Ireland, with Dublin doubling as New York in many scenes.
Irish Film Board CEO Mark Woods said: "We are absolutely overjoyed for Jim Sheridan and everybody who worked on 'In America'. It really is a stunning testament to the talent we have in Ireland and its recognition on the world stage."
Other nominees in the Original Screenplay category are Denys Arcand ('The Barbarian Invasions'); Steven Knight ('Dirty Pretty Things'); Andrew Stanton, Bob Peterson and David Reynolds ('Finding Nemo) and Sofia Coppola ('Lost in Translation').
The 76th Academy Awards will be presented on 29 February at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
