Jim Sheridan's film 'In America' has been chosen by the Producers Guild of America to receive the Stanley Kramer Award.
The Hollywood Reporter says that the award recognises a company, individual or production that addresses provocative social issues in an uplifting fashion.
The award will be presented to Sheridan and production partner Arthur Lappin at the 15th annual PGA Awards on 17 January.
Sheridan and daughters Kirsten and Naomi have been nominated in the Best Screenplay category for this year's Golden Globes.
