Girls Aloud member Cheryl Tweedy appeared in court in England yesterday on charges of racially aggravated common assault.
The 19-year-old singer is alleged to have punched toilet attendant Sophie Amogbokpa in a drunken attack in The Drink club in January of this year.
Tweedy issued a statement denying the accusations after the incident. If found guilty, she could face up to two years in prison.
She was remanded on conditional bail and is to appear in court again on 4 April.
Girls Aloud, the pop band created through ITV's 'Pop Stars: The Rivals' television show, had a Christmas Number One last December with their first release 'Sound of the Underground'.
