Bono voted music's most powerful

U2 frontman Bono has been voted the most powerful figure in the music industry, worldwide.

The 42-year-old Dubliner topped the Q magazine readers' poll to find the 50 Most Powerful People in Music.

He is known for his campaigning against third world debt, poverty and AIDs and his ability to get the attention of world leaders, including US President George Bush and the Pope.

Head of Universal Music, Doug Morris, was voted second, while controversial US rapper Eminem came third.

The late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was placed fifth, Radiohead's Thom Yorke was voted sixth, Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono were placed joint ninth, while Former Spice Girls manager and Pop Idol developer Simon Fuller came tenth.
