One of the world's rarest manuscripts, missing for more than 60 years, has been returned to the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin.
The manuscript disappeared in the 1930's while undergoing restoration in Nazi Germany.
The writings, in the Coptic language, are known as The Gospel of Mani, an Iranian prophet who founded his own religion in around 200 AD.
In 1931 Sir Alfred Chester Beatty acquired the manuscript and sent it to Berlin for restoration.
At the outbreak of World War II it was stored for safekeeping in a bunker underneath the Berlin Zoo.
When the Russians captured Berlin, the manuscript was sent to Leningrad.
After reunification Germany agreed to return The Gospel of Mani to the Chester Beatty library in Dublin.
The restored manuscript will go on display next year.
