'If you're out there Peter, come home. So many people love you.'

Crimecall - Peter Scully missing

The heartbroken friends of a missing man have made an emotional plea for information to help find their much-loved friend.

Popular Peter Scully, 48, from Greystones, Co Wicklow, vanished almost a year ago on April 2 2017. Now, 12 months on, Peter's disappearance remains a mystery.

Despite exhaustive searches, gardaí are still no closer to understanding what happened to him.

Peter, who was last seen in his home in Fairfield Park, is still remember him as a steadfast and reliable figure in the community.

The harrowing case is the subject of tonight's Crimecall programme, which airs on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.

"It’s so out of character," says Dernaun, a friend of Peter's since their teens. "You could set your time by Peter, you’d know where he was nearly any stage of the day."

It's a sentiment echoed across Facebook posts from the time of his disappearance, with many remarking how unusual it was for Peter to disappear without warning.

Peter worked in maintenance in Carrickmines Industrial Estate, south County Dublin, and, although he has reserved personality, was well known to many in the area.

His friends have told how he was closely linked to the Greystones area, in both his hobbies and his work. A lover of the outdoors, he would regularly head out on the various nature walks near to his home.

Peter's friend of 20 years, Kenny, told Crimecall: "We used to walk from Greystones, along the cliff walk to Bray and back, on a regular basis."

Peter's disappearance has understandably proved painful for those who knew him, particularly for his ailing 76-year-old mother.

Prior to his disappearance, Peter doted on his frail mother and visited her each day.

"His mother’s life has just stopped" said Kenny. "Every time I go into the house she is just crying."

Dernaun added: "If you’re out there Peter and you’re watching this, just come home. So many people love you."

Gardaí are appealing directly to those who may have any information as to Peter's whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimecall on 1800 40 50 60 or Greystones Garda Station on 01 6665800.
