The Works Presents returns for a new series of creative chats

What inspires and drives the creative mind? John Kelly returns to RTÉ One this November with five new episodes of The Works Presents, which explore this very question - watch the first episode now, via RTÉ Player.

Guests this season include innovative playwright, Conor McPherson; internationally-renowned sculptor Eilis O’Connell; ground-breaking conductor and composer Eimear Noone; acclaimed and prolific author John Boyne; and socially-driven artist Robert Ballagh.

In conversation, these key creative forces share insights into how and why they work in their chosen fields, as John discovers what drives them to create the works they make.

Eimear Noone joins John Kelly for the new series of The Works Presents

The series kicks off on Thursday 24th November with the incomparable Eimear Noone, who has conducted orchestras right across the world - she made history in 2020 by becoming the first female conductor to perform at an Academy Awards ceremony.

She's also a composer - in fact, she’s one of the world’s leading composers of scores for video games such as World of Warcraft, her music reaching audiences of over 100 million people.

Dividing her time between Los Angeles and Kilconnell, in East Galway, what excites Eimear most is when she can combine composition and conducting with performing directly to her audience; recent highlights include a sold-out video game concert in June at the Royal Albert Hall, and conducting The Witches Seed, an opera, composed by Stewart Copeland, formerly of The Police.
