In the Poetry Programme on Sunday 30th October, at 7pm on RTÉ Radio 1, poets Róisín Tierney and Carl Phillips read from their new collections, and we hear a poem for Halloween by John Montague.
The American poet Carl Phillips is the author of sixteen books of poetry and three prose books. He has won numerous awards and fellowships and teaches at Washington University in St. Louis. He joins presenter Olivia O'Leary to read from his latest publication, Then The War and Selected Poems, which has been published this year by the British publishers Carcanet and is intended to introduce him to a European audience.

Róisín Tierney was born in Dublin, lived for a time in Spain, and these days lives in London. Her poetry has won prizes in many national competitions, and her pamphlet Dream Endings, published by Rack Press in 2011, won the prestigious Michael Marks Award. Her début collection, The Spanish-Italian Border, was published by Arc in 2014, and this year her second collection, Tiger Moth, has been published by Turas Press.
The programme ends with a reading by Sean O'Neill of the late John Montague's poem Samhain, from his New Collected Poems, published by The Gallery Press.
