At the wheel of an old Morris Traveller, Daniel Hope travels through Ireland in search of the Irish soul through its music - watch Hope on the Road above.

Born in 1973 in South Africa and now settled in Germany, the British violinist has Irish ancestors and feels the Emerald Isle to be a homeland where he has never lived.

In medieval Kilkenny, he meets Siobhan Armstrong with her Celtic harp, a symbol of irish culture. In Galway fiddler Sean Smyth, a member of the group Lunasa, introduces him to Irish folk music. And in Dublin the National Symphony Orchestra invite him to perform at the National Concert Hall a work by Ina Boyle, an early twentieth century Irish composer, that is enjoying a revival.
