Nobel Laureate Kazuo Ishiguro is among 13 authors on this year's Booker Prize for Fiction longlist, which was announced this (Tuesday) morning.

The prize is open to writers of any nationality, written in English and published in the UK or Ireland. This year's list includes Nobel Laureate and former winner of the prize Ishiguro, as well as previously shortlisted authors Damon Galgut, Richard Powers and Sunjeev Sahota.

There are no Irish authors on the list this year.

The shortlist of six books will be announced on Tuesday 14 September. The shortlisted authors each receive £2,500 and a specially-bound edition of their book.

The 2021 winner will be announced on Wednesday 3 November in an award ceremony held in partnership with the BBC at Broadcasting House's Radio Theatre and the winning author will receive £50,000.

The 2021 longlist, or 'The Booker Dozen’, of 13 novels, is:

Nadifa Mohamed (British/Somali) - The Fortune Men (Viking, Penguin General, PRH)
