Last March, the two-kilometre limit meant my dog and I could walk the South Circular Road through Portobello as far as the corner of St. Stephens Green. Dutifully, we'd stop at the top of Grafton Street, stare down at its shutters, listen to its heavy, unsettling silence, before turning back.

With the world so shrunken, I began to think about my route differently. What did I really know about these familiar streets? What is the story behind this building, I’d ask myself...
