To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, 27th January, Sunday Miscellany presented a story of flight by a young Polish couple from the Nazi regime and the new, impending threat of Soviet occupation - listen to Oliver Sears read Urbanski v Urbanski above.

In 1944, when Austria was under Nazi rule, Richard Urbanski, a twenty-three-year-old Pole from Krakow, married his young bride in the Catholic Church in Kitzbuhel. Richard worked for a Polish businessman who asked him to transport some horses by lorry to stables in the Alpine village. Richard had witnessed the daily horror of Nazi occupation in Poland and sensed that this was an opportunity to escape to a freer world...
