The Civic Theatre in Tallaght is giving grants to people across the cultural sector who have lost work due to the Covid-19 crisis - you can make a donation to the Artist Emergency Relief Fund here.

In the coming days, the recipients of Artist Emergency Relief Fund grants will explain, in their own words, what they do and exactly why the scheme offers essential support for the nation's artists.

Today, meet set designer Vivienne Quinn...

I am a Set Designer, Creative Director and Stylist based in Harold's Cross.

I work designing and building bold and colourful immersive spaces for people or products. That can range from permanent work in public commercial spaces, temporary pop-ups or providing creative for photoshoots.

I had lots of exciting projects lined up for the coming months - providing work for a design festival, a magazine shoot, food styling and some permanent exhibitions.

Last week, everything I had been working on was canceled or indefinitely postponed. I also work in the events industry, so have had all upcoming work in that area canceled until further notice. This is absolutely the right thing to do but is also really scary for freelancers and creative workers who have no secure income.

I will use the award to fund the rent for my studio as I still have overheads that need to be paid over the coming weeks and months. I hope this is a time creative problem solvers can come together to lighten the load of currents events, and to envision how we can be useful going forward.
