The Civic Theatre in Dublin is organising a fund to help artists who are facing hardship because of closures and loss of work due to Covid 19.
The Tallaght-based theatre said that the crisis has had an instant impact on artists, arts workers and performers, many of whom are already on low pay and are now seeing future work cancelled.
To make matters worse, the theatre said, a large percentage of artists supplement their incomes with part-time jobs, often in the service industry, another industry that has been hit hard by this pandemic. Resources in the arts are stretched too thin across too many, with arts organisations and artists alike experiencing serious financial pressure.
These are troubling & uncertain times.
