The Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this June Bank Holiday weekend. To mark the occasion, organisers have curated a festival filled to the brim with comedy icons including Tommy Tiernan, Dylan Moran, and Dara Ó Briain.
The annual event, lovingly known as the 'Best Little Comedy Festival In The World', will host some of your favourite Irish and international comedians including Rose Matafeo, Neil Delamere, Lucy Porter, Jason Byrne, Alan Davies, Karl Spain, Nish Kumar, Adam Hills, Joanne McNally, David O'Doherty and many more.
To celebrate the big birthday bash, we've rounded up some of our most anticipated acts.
1. Abandoman
Abandoman aka Rob Broderick is, hands down, the king of freestyle comedy. Once described as "Flight of the Conchords meets 8 mile", the Irish comedian uses hip-hop-infused humour to entertain and amaze his audience - put him on your Cat Laughs bucket list.
2. Julie Jay
Up to 90 podcaster, Tommy Tiernan Show MC, and award-winning stand-up Julie Jay has taken the comedy scene by storm over the past year. Her warm, witty, and often self-deprecating observations make her one of the most exciting - and distinctive - voices in Irish comedy.
3. Dreamgun Film Reads
Dreamgun Film Reads is a four-man show consisting of Heber Hanly, Gavin Drea, Stephen Colfer and James McDonnell, who transform iconic Hollywood film scripts into hilarious radio plays.
This special Cat Laughs performance will star Dara Ó Briain, David O'Doherty, Nish Kumar, Alison Spittle, Jack Gleeson, and The Bear Pack - none of whom will have read the script beforehand. Get the popcorn ready!
4. Tony Cantwell
Internet sensation Tony Cantwell's bizarre and brilliant viral videos have, thus far, generated over 4 million views. The Dublin-based improv has risen to cult-status over the past year and shows no signs of slowing down. Put him down as 'one to watch'.
5. The Bear Pack
Australian comedians Steen Raskopoulos and Carlo Ritchie, also known as The Bear Pack, are two of the most energetic acts on the festival's impressive line-up. Inspired by suggestions from the audience, the duo improvise weird and wondrous scenarios on the spot.
