The Belfast born author Anna Burns has been shortlisted for the Man Booker prize, for her novel, Milkman.
The novel which is set in an unnamed Belfast features a young woman coming of age during the Troubles.

The prize awards any novel originally written in English, and published in the UK and Ireland.
Sally Rooney's Normal People and Donal Ryan's From A Low and Quiet Sea had been on the long-list, but the Irish authors did not make it through to the shortlist stage.
The winner of the prize, worth £50 thousand pounds sterling, will be announced in London on October 16th.
The other authors on the six-strong list are from Canada, the US and the UK
